Graders
Time-shifts
Grading Time-shifts are open to all Record Library members!
Book your man-hours with the Record Library by sending us an email with 'time-shifts' in the subject field to dystofuture@protonmail.com
Graders
may book a maximum of 3-hour Time-shifts in a single sitting, and a
minimum of 2. Single-hour grading sessions are only used by fresh
graders to familiarise oneself with the (remarkably simple) operation of
grading content, and get a hang of using the legend (a little more challenging for some).
Graders
are expected to avoid distractions and find a peaceful, quiet area most
likely to be undisturbed during alotted Time-shifts.
Count-down Timer
Time-shifts operate on an hour by hour basis, and run on a count-down timer to the ticking second hand. Grading content and subject-matter according to fractional margin for error is designed to be as accurate as possible.
Graders are expected to start grading as soon as their count-down timer starts, and stop grading as soon as the count-down timer stops.
Break-Times
Count-down timers can be paused for a break-time at any moment and for as long as one wishes up to a 15 minute maximum limit per hour for a 3-hour Time-shift, and a 10 minute maximum limit per hour for a 2-hour Time-shift.
Time-shifts are divided into 2 and 3-hour slots. A 2-hour Time-shift enjoys a 10 minute break time limit per hour, 3-hour Time-shifts enjoy a 15 minute alotted break time
per hour. There is no expectation for anyone to use break-times at all,
and graders who take no break-time may finish early if they wish.
Total maxiumum elapsed period per whole Time-shift *unit* is 1 hour and 15 minutes; One hour of grading content, plus 15 minute break-time.
The minimum elapsed period per whole Time-shift *unit* is 45 minutes; No break time used.
The expected grading period for everyone to aim for is 1 full hour of grading at a time, totalling 2 or 3 full hours of grading per whole shift.
Man-hours that fall under a full 1-hour unit are added to one's next Time-shift report.
Break-time can accumulate forwards but not backwards, and on the hour; Any grader who has used no break-time and graded content continuously for 2 hours and 15 minutes during a 3-hour Time-shift may finish early if any wish, by adding one's accumulated 45 minutes of break-time onto the end. Two man-hours will be reported, and the 15 minutes left-over will be added to the next Time-shift report.
Graders may only use a maximum of 15 minutes break-time during the first hour of a 3-hour Time-shift and a maximum of 30 minutes during the second hour of a 3-hour Time-shift if no break-time was used in the first.
Graders
may only use a maximum of 10 minutes break-time during the first hour
of a 2-hour Time-shift and a maximum of 20 minutes during the second
hour of a 2-hour Time-shift if no break-time was used in the first.
Graders are expected and requested to complete grading within each whole hour Time-shift to at least 45 minutes.
Interruptions
Should the unforeseen occur (technology malfunction, emergency) grading-work is unfortunately lost if incomplete below the 45 minute mark.
Any grader who needs to run off after half an hour of grading, will unfortunately receive no man-hours, and that Time-shift's grading-work cannot be added to the Record Library.
Any grader who encounters the unforeseeable and needs to run off after 1 hour and 40 minutes of grading, will receive one full man-hour for their time, and their grading-work from the first full hour will be added to the Record Library, but grading-work from the incomplete 40 minutes cannot be added to the Record Library, and no man-hours will be reported for those 40 minutes.
Content and Subject-Matter
Graders will be given more than enough content to last a whole 2 or 3-hour Time-shift. Content may occasionally *shift* from era to era, or subject to subject, but content cannot run out.
Graders can expect a brief description from their assigned librarian at the beginning of each Time-shift concerning fresh content subject-matter; Either an era (period of time), a subject-matter (topic), or 'random' (mixed bag).
Librarians are expected to check in with graders at least once during a Time-shift to get a little feedback on the content, and librarians are expected to be presently on hand at all times to swiftly offer Hints to a grader who has a question.
How to Grade
Graders are expected and encouraged to aim for *intuition* when grading content according to fractional margin for error, and work up to a general sense of speed!
Once a grader has grasped the basics of any given batch of fresh content, and its subject-matter, one will then pick up on an idea or trend. Patterns are to be carefully avoided at all times as they can be easily misleading.
Once a grader achieves *intuition*, grading speed and accuracy increases with comprehension, input and output, reading and marking grades.
Graders are encouraged and expected to have the Record Library legend in front of them at all times during grading for swift consultation.
Graders are encouraged and expected to use an alarm on a count-down timer to alert the end of each shift. Graders are expected to cease grading immediately as soon as the alarm goes off.
All grading positions are voluntary only, and *merits* are attributed according to lowest margin for error during any given Time-shift.
